Tod Babick

Founder/Principle

Babick was born in 1961 in Barre, Vermont. He studied music performance and computer programming and made bespoke furniture for the trade before graduating in industrial design from Rhode Island School of Design. He worked with studios and start-ups in Rhode Island and Michigan, and joined Chuck Saylor and Dan West to start Izzydesign (later Izzy+). Eventually, Babick left to open his own practice, working with Kohler, Haworth, Stylex Seating, Wieland, and US Agency for International Development among others. He was a founding partner in Pieter VanTuyl, launching a collection of sustainable, limited-series furniture and objects at ICFF which focused on our innate connection to nature.

His work is included in the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design; other recognition includes Best of NeoCon, Nightingale Award, ID Magazine, Product Design 6, Metropolis, and Interior Design. Babick has numerous utility patents, including Kohler’s Smart Divide sinks and Izzy’s leg to table top connection.
